Kolektyw Łaski Karaoke Concert: History Will Pervert You All!

The songs of Julian Tuwim and Andrzej Włast transport us back to the interwar period.
What images do we associate with this “golden era”? Cabaret, lavishness, multicultural society and the development of a newly reborn Polish state. We have decided to scratch off the sugar coating from this idealised vision of the Interbellum years in order to uncover its true face: poverty, ruthless exploitation of workers, antisemitism. In our versions of the songs, we show how traumas from the past are blurred by nostalgia and the romanticisation of history. In this project, we have chosen lyrics written by authors of Jewish descent, to show their impact on the development of cabaret song and to emphasise that this contribution has been all but forgotten.
